Ashling Microsystems Limited today announced a new strategic collaboration with Synopsys Inc., which covers the design, provision and support of next-generation development tools dedicated to Synopsys’ DesignWare® ARC® processor families. Ashling provides a dedicated skilled team which engages with Synopsys to fully understand their end-user requirements so that Ashling’s advanced custom debug solution can be developed to give DesignWare ARC processor users a significant advantage in software development.

“Ashling is very excited about this initiative, as it involves a particular set of design and analytical challenges that we’re uniquely positioned to solve,” said John Murphy, Managing Director, Ashling Microsystems. “In our partnership with Synopsys, we are leveraging our focused engineering expertise and our 30+ years of know-how in embedded design to develop a unique solution. We’re thrilled to be working on this challenge in collaboration with Synopsys, to create a complete deployable solution.”

One of Ashling’s key differentiators is integration of a real-time trace hardware probe which is key for code developers whose applications need high capability non-intrusive debugging or have real time constraints. Ashling will present on this topic at the Synopsys ARC Processor Summit in Santa Clara, September 13, 2016. Click here to see more about Ashling’s presentation The Case for Trace.

“Creating complex embedded software applications requires tools that offer high productivity and ease of use,” said John Koeter, Vice President of Marketing for IP and prototyping at Synopsys. “Synopsys’ collaboration with Ashling on the development of their Ultra-XD real-time trace probe provides developers with integrated tools to accelerate the development and debugging of software for ARC-based embedded systems.”
